Islamabad Red Zone Traffic Ban Enforced; Major Roads Remain Open with Diversions

Islamabad Police announced on Monday that traffic will be restricted in the capital’s Red Zone, permitting only official government vehicles to enter. This measure includes the suspension of movement from Kashmir Chowk toward Serena Chowk and Srinagar Highway until further notice.

To ease commuter inconvenience, alternative routes have been arranged. Travelers from Bahria Kahu can reach Islamabad via Kashmir Chowk using Club Road. Likewise, residents can access Bahria Kahu by taking Murree Road and Club Road through Kashmir Chowk.

The Srinagar Highway will be closed between the Seventh Avenue Bridge and Serena Chowk. However, traffic remains open on both sides between Zero Point and the Seventh Avenue Flyover. Additionally, travel from the Seventh Avenue intersection toward sectors G-7, G-6, and Chand Tara Chowk is unrestricted.

Authorities confirmed that Faisal Avenue and Margalla Road are accessible for traffic, facilitating smooth transit in those areas. Roads from Nawaz Chowk to F-7 Markaz and from Khayaban Chowk toward the Blue Area are also open.

Islamabad Police have urged citizens to plan their journeys carefully and cooperate with traffic officials to minimize disruptions during this period.
