Karachi to Face Rising Temperatures Amid Anticyclonic Wave Impact

Karachi is expected to witness a rise in temperatures as an anticyclonic wave influences weather patterns across the region. This meteorological phenomenon is causing increased heat intensity in various parts of Sindh and Balochistan provinces, leading to hotter and drier conditions. The anticyclonic wave, situated near the Oman coast, is elevating atmospheric pressure, which in turn is affecting the usual sea breeze dynamics that typically help moderate temperatures along the coastal city.

In a significant development, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an advisory highlighting that Karachi’s weather will remain hot and dry from today through Tuesday. The maximum temperature in the city is forecasted to reach between 37°C and 39°C, marking a noticeable increase from recent days. This surge in heat is further intensified by low humidity levels, which reduce the cooling effect usually provided by moisture in the air.

Despite the rising temperatures, experts clarify that this situation does not qualify as a heat wave. The presence of the anticyclonic wave is temporarily suppressing the sea breeze, but it is expected to return at a light pace during the evenings and nights, providing some relief from the daytime heat. Additionally, there remains a possibility of rainfall in certain areas of Sindh, including Karachi, towards late April or early May, which could help alleviate the hot and dry spell.

Overall, residents of Karachi and neighboring regions should prepare for a brief period of intensified heat, while monitoring weather updates for any changes. The interplay between the anticyclonic wave and local climatic factors will continue to shape the weather conditions in the coming days.
