The Pakistan Navy conducted a successful rescue operation on Friday, evacuating 18 crew members from a merchant ship in distress in the Arabian Sea. The incident occurred approximately 200 nautical miles (around 370 kilometers) off Pakistan’s coastline.
The vessel involved was the MV Gold Autumn, carrying crew members from several countries including China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) promptly activated emergency procedures upon receiving the distress signal.
Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Hunain, which was patrolling nearby, was immediately dispatched to assist. The naval team launched a search and rescue mission, showcasing their operational expertise and professionalism throughout the process.
During the operation, the crew provided critical medical aid, firefighting support, and conducted a thorough damage assessment of the vessel before safely evacuating all 18 personnel. Following the rescue, the individuals were transported to Karachi for medical treatment and arrangements for their repatriation to their home countries.
This operation highlights the Pakistan Navy’s dedication to acting as a primary responder in maritime emergencies within its jurisdiction, reinforcing its role in ensuring safety and security at sea.
