Lady Gaga and Doechii have teamed up to create a new song titled Runway for the soundtrack of The Devil Wears Prada 2. Earlier this week, the film’s producers unveiled the final trailer for the eagerly awaited comedy-drama, which sees Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprising their iconic roles from the 2006 original.
The trailer featured a brief preview of the fresh track by Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, alongside Doechii, known for her work on Denial Is a River. On Thursday, the complete song was released, drawing inspiration from the fictional fashion magazine central to the movie’s storyline. The lyrics include empowering lines such as, “No matter what, you gotta strut,” and “You were born for the runway.” However, it remains uncertain whether a music video for the track is in development.
Runway was co-written by Lady Gaga and Doechii, along with several of Gaga’s collaborators from her Die With a Smile project, including Bruno Mars, Dernst ‘D’Mile’ Emile II, and Andrew Watt. Notably, Lady Gaga previously praised Doechii in a British Vogue interview last July, describing her as an artist with a “pen that feels immediately legendary.”
In a significant development for fans, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for release on May 1, promising to bring back the beloved characters and introduce new elements to the franchise.
