Dubai police have been instrumental in a significant international crackdown on the Lyons Clan, one of Scotland’s most violent criminal organizations in recent decades. This operation, part of a broader effort to combat money laundering and transnational organized crime, was conducted under Operation Armorum, which is led by the Spanish Guardia Civil in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Interior.

The coordinated effort resulted in the arrest of 14 suspects across several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, while investigations continue on 20 additional individuals in Spain. Notably, Dubai police apprehended a member of the gang upon arrival at a Dubai airport following the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice.

This swift arrest highlights Dubai police’s readiness and the efficiency of their integrated security systems in addressing cross-border criminal activities and enhancing global law enforcement cooperation. The operation showcased extensive international collaboration, involving key agencies such as Europol, the UK’s National Crime Agency, the US Drug Enforcement Administration, and other police forces.

Authorities confirmed that the joint operation successfully identified members of the Lyons Clan, dismantled their organizational structure, and seized assets connected to their illicit activities. Investigations uncovered that the gang was deeply engaged in drug trafficking and money laundering, with operations extending across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The criminal network employed a sophisticated scheme involving shell companies and complex financial transactions to launder and obscure the origins of their illegal profits. This operation marks a significant step in disrupting the Lyons Clan’s criminal enterprises and demonstrates the power of international law enforcement partnerships.
