PTI Postpones Rally After Positive Government Talks

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has agreed to postpone its planned rally at the government’s request after constructive discussions between both parties. The talks, held in the opposition lobby of the National Assembly, concluded on a positive note with both sides consenting to reduce political tensions for the time being.

The government had urged PTI to defer the rally scheduled for the following day, a request the party accepted after internal consultations. The meeting included Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf representing the government, while opposition members such as Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and Aamir Dogar participated from PTI’s side.

Officials involved in the discussions noted that postponing the rally was aimed at fostering a more constructive political atmosphere, especially as communication channels between the two sides appear to be reopening. Although this does not represent a complete resolution, it marks a significant temporary easing of tensions. PTI’s decision to delay the event reflects a readiness, at least for now, to prioritize dialogue over confrontation.

Further developments are anticipated as both parties continue their talks in the upcoming days.

In a related diplomatic development, peace talks between Iran and the United States are expected to take place in Islamabad on Friday. Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf is set to lead a delegation for negotiations with U.S. Vice President JD Vance. While the United States has not yet confirmed the in-person meetings, discussions about the talks are ongoing.
