Amazon has announced the complete release schedule for the fifth and final season of The Boys, which will debut with a two-episode premiere rather than the usual three. This marks a departure from the series’ previous pattern, with one new episode dropping weekly thereafter.
The Boys Season 5 will stream exclusively on Prime Video, accessible to all Amazon Prime members. The season kicks off on April 8 at 12:00 AM PT (3:00 AM ET), which corresponds to 5:00 AM BST for viewers in the UK. Subsequent episodes will be released every Wednesday at the same time, culminating in the finale on May 20.
Global release times for the premiere are as follows: 12:00 AM PT (Vancouver), 1:00 AM MT (Calgary), 2:00 AM CT (Winnipeg), 3:00 AM ET (Toronto/New York), 8:00 AM BST (UK), 9:00 AM CET (Europe), 11:00 AM GST (UAE), 12:00 PM PKT (Pakistan), 12:30 PM IST (India), 3:00 PM SGT (Singapore), 4:00 PM JST (Japan), 3:00 PM AWST (Australia), 5:00 PM AEST (Australia), and 7:00 PM NZST (New Zealand).
The season continues the storylines from The Boys Season 4 and Gen V Season 2. Creator Eric Kripke has noted that the younger Supes from Gen V will not simply swoop in to resolve conflicts, emphasizing a more integrated narrative. The series’ conclusion was planned as early as Season 3, ensuring a cohesive ending.
Actor Karl Urban has teased significant character deaths, while Kripke has tempered expectations about large-scale battle scenes, mentioning the show’s budget constraints compared to productions like Game of Thrones. The politically charged nature of the series remains relevant, with hints of topical references, including a line from Homelander in Episode 7 that echoes sentiments from the Trump administration era.
Although the main series is concluding, The Boys universe is expected to continue. Gen V awaits a potential Season 3 renewal, likely influenced by the reception of The Boys finale. Additionally, a prequel series titled Vought Rising is in development. Meanwhile, the cast members remain in high demand, with Antony Starr notably linked to discussions about a role in a Resident Evil film adaptation.
