NDMA Issues Heatwave Warning for Sindh Starting April 11

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning about an impending heatwave expected to affect Sindh starting from April 11. The alert highlights that maximum temperatures will remain significantly elevated, with nighttime temperatures rising 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above average and daytime temperatures increasing by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius. This prolonged spell of intense heat is anticipated to impact several districts across the province.

Among the areas most vulnerable to this extreme weather are Dadu, Jacobabad, and Larkana, along with their surrounding regions. Additionally, districts such as Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, and Khairpur are also forecasted to experience the heatwave conditions. Temperatures are expected to climb sharply in Sanghar, Umarkot, and Kashmore districts, further intensifying the heat stress in these localities.

Meanwhile, the NDMA has extended its heatwave advisory beyond Sindh, warning that parts of Balochistan, including Jhal Magsi, Usta Muhammad, and Dera Murad Jamali, will also face severe hot weather. Southern Punjab districts such as Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan are similarly expected to endure elevated temperatures during this period. This widespread heatwave poses significant health risks and challenges for residents across these regions.

In response to the forecast, the NDMA has urged the public to take precautionary measures by limiting unnecessary outdoor activities during peak heat hours. It has also emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and increasing water consumption to mitigate the adverse effects of the extreme temperatures. These recommendations aim to safeguard vulnerable populations and reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses during the upcoming heatwave.
