The Islamabad administration has announced a one-month waiver on motorcycle transfer fees as part of efforts to provide financial relief to the public. This decision was confirmed on Tuesday as a component of the government’s wider relief and subsidy initiative aimed at alleviating the economic strain caused by increasing fuel prices.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted that the exemption aligns with the Prime Minister’s subsidy program designed to ease citizens’ burdens during this challenging period. He stated that the transfer fee suspension is a temporary measure under the public relief scheme.
Further details were provided by the Director General of Excise, Arfan Memon, who explained that residents of Islamabad can now transfer motorcycle ownership without incurring any charges. To accommodate the anticipated demand, the Excise Department’s office will operate around the clock, with additional service counters established to ensure a seamless and efficient transfer process.
This initiative is expected to benefit thousands of motorcycle owners in the capital, especially as the government implements petrol subsidies to mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs. Officials emphasized that the temporary fee waiver aims to simplify administrative procedures and offer tangible support to citizens during the rollout of the subsidy program.
