Karachi Experiences Light Drizzle Amid PMD’s Rain Forecast

Light drizzle was reported across various parts of Karachi on Monday, as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted partly cloudy skies accompanied by the possibility of additional rainfall in the city. Several areas, including Jinnah Avenue and Gulshan-e-Maymar, experienced intermittent drizzle, offering some respite from recent weather fluctuations.

The PMD indicated that Karachi would likely see partly cloudy and windy conditions, with isolated rain and drizzle expected mainly during the evening and nighttime hours. This weather pattern is influenced by a westerly wave currently impacting regions of the country, which has already caused rain and thunderstorms in multiple parts of Sindh over the past few days.

Daytime temperatures in Karachi are forecasted to hover between 31 and 33°C, with humidity levels expected to decrease gradually by evening. The city has been experiencing unusual weather activity recently, including heavy rainfall earlier this month that broke long-standing April records, reflecting shifting climate trends affecting seasonal norms.

In a significant development, the Met Office has cautioned that the ongoing weather system may bring further spells of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms to Sindh, including Karachi, in the coming days. Authorities have advised residents to stay alert due to the potential for sudden weather changes, such as gusty winds and isolated showers, which could disrupt traffic and impact vulnerable infrastructure.

This recent drizzle represents another phase in what meteorologists describe as an extended and abnormal weather pattern for Karachi during April, a month typically characterized by limited rainfall. The evolving conditions underscore the continuing influence of shifting climate dynamics on the region’s weather.
