Tim David’s Explosive 70* Leads Bengaluru to 43-Run IPL Victory Over Chennai

Tim David showcased an extraordinary power-hitting display, steering Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a dominant 43-run triumph over Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League on Sunday. The 30-year-old Australian remained unbeaten on 70 runs from just 25 deliveries, including eight towering sixes, as Bengaluru posted a formidable total and secured their second straight victory of the season.

Notably, David struck a colossal six measuring 106 metres that soared onto the roof of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, leaving fans mesmerized. Reflecting on the shot, he revealed it was a product of practice drills. “During training, we have contests to hit the roof from the side pitches. Pulling that off in a match was quite enjoyable,” he commented.

Bengaluru’s captain Rajat Patidar also contributed significantly, remaining unbeaten on 48 runs off 19 balls to set a solid platform for the late surge. David further accelerated the innings, including an explosive 30-run over against Jamie Overton, which featured four sixes.

Chasing a challenging target of 251, Chennai Super Kings managed 207 runs before being dismissed with just two balls remaining. Chennai’s head coach Stephen Fleming acknowledged the tight contest, stating, “We were ahead until about five overs to go, but then they accelerated rapidly. That is where the game slipped away.”

In a significant development, Bengaluru climbed to the top of the points table, benefiting from a superior net run rate over Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings. Meanwhile, Chennai suffered their third consecutive loss, dropping to the bottom of the standings.
