In a tragic incident, the body of Dr Ahmad Latif was discovered inside his vehicle parked at the Lahore Children’s Hospital parking area. Dr Latif, who was part of the hospital’s haematology department, had not been seen for four days before his body was found.

His car remained unattended for the entire period, with no one checking on it. Authorities also recovered some medications near the scene. Despite his prolonged absence from work, no immediate alarm was raised by colleagues or hospital staff.

Following the discovery, the hospital administration promptly established a four-member inquiry committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding Dr Latif’s death. The committee is chaired by Professor Dr Saima Farhan and includes Dr Ali Abuzar, Dr Hafiz Atif Nazir, and Dr Ayesha Khanam. They have been instructed to submit their findings within 24 hours.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, the skeletal remains of a woman missing for nearly three decades were uncovered during excavation work in Karachi’s Orangi Town. The remains were identified as Mumtaz Begum, who disappeared in 1994. Her daughter, Asma, has lodged a murder complaint against her stepfather, Farid Alam, accusing him of killing and burying her mother inside their home.
