The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Technical Committee has confirmed the two-match suspension of Fakhar Zaman, rejecting the Lahore Qalandars opener’s appeal against the penalty imposed earlier this week. Fakhar was sanctioned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following his conviction for a Level 3 violation of the tournament’s Code of Conduct, related to ball-tampering during Lahore Qalandars’ match against Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium.
The left-handed batsman had denied the allegations and requested a full disciplinary hearing, which was overseen by match referee Roshan Mahanama. After a thorough assessment of the evidence and Fakhar’s defense, the referee handed down a two-match suspension—the maximum penalty allowed for a first Level 3 offence.
Subsequently, Fakhar Zaman filed a formal appeal seeking to overturn the decision. The PSL Technical Committee then conducted an independent review, re-examining all the evidence and hearing submissions from the involved parties before reaching the same conclusion.
The committee, composed of Professor Javed Malik, Dr. Mumraiz Naqshband, and Syed Ali Naqi, carried out a de novo inquiry. After carefully considering all materials and arguments, they dismissed the appeal and upheld the original two-match ban imposed by the match referee.
With the sanction confirmed, Fakhar Zaman will now miss Lahore Qalandars’ forthcoming matches, including the home fixture against Multan Sultans scheduled for April 3 at Gaddafi Stadium and the subsequent away game against Islamabad United on April 9.
