Olivia Rodrigo has officially launched a new chapter in her music career by announcing her third studio album, titled You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, scheduled for release on June 12. The Grammy-winning pop artist shared the exciting update with her fans on April 2 through Instagram.

In her announcement, Rodrigo expressed pride in the new record and encouraged fans to preorder the album, stating, “My third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. Available for preorder now!”

Alongside the news, she revealed the album’s striking cover art, which depicts her smiling brightly while hanging upside down on a swing against a soft pink background. This imagery suggests a blend of playful energy and emotional depth in the upcoming project.

Notably, Rodrigo reunites with her frequent collaborator Daniel Nigro, who played a key role in producing her previous two albums, Sour (2021) and Guts (2023), both of which debuted at number one on the charts. Rodrigo described this album as a creative shift, emphasizing that it was a challenge to write from a joyful perspective.

“When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!” she explained, highlighting the album’s thematic departure from her earlier work. Rodrigo, who was previously romantically linked to British actor Louis Partridge, first gained worldwide recognition with her 2021 breakout single “Drivers License.”
