A 45-year-old man from Massachusetts has been taken into custody for allegedly posting threats to kill former US President Donald Trump. Authorities revealed that Andrew Emerald made multiple threatening statements on Facebook targeting Trump.
Emerald reportedly authored eight posts on the social media platform, including one in May 2025 where he stated, “Either Trump is dead and in the ground by 2026 or I am hunting him down and putting him there.” In another message later that month, he threatened to attack Trump’s private Florida resort, writing, “I’ll make sure you’re at Mar-a-Lago when I burn it to the f****** ground.”
In a significant development, Emerald was indicted on eight counts of interstate transmission of threatening communications, a federal charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment. This case adds to a series of similar incidents involving threats against Trump on social media.
Notably, in March, a man from Virginia was sentenced to over two years in prison for sending online threats to kill the former president. Trump himself narrowly survived an assassination attempt in July 2024 when a gunman fired shots at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
