Thunderstorms and Hailstorms Expected Across Several Regions of Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting thunderstorms accompanied by rain and hailstorms in various regions of the country over the coming days. This weather pattern is expected to impact several provinces, raising concerns about potential hazards linked to heavy precipitation.

In a significant development, the PMD has highlighted the risk of landslides in vulnerable mountainous areas, particularly in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. These regions, known for their rugged terrain, are especially susceptible to such natural disasters during periods of intense rainfall.

Meanwhile, the department has also warned about the possibility of flooding in streams and seasonal nullahs across parts of Balochistan, including Khuzdar, Awaran, Kharan, Kalat, and Mastung. Flash floods are anticipated in districts such as Kohlu, Lasbela, Zhob, Qilla Saifullah, Qilla Abdullah, and Sherani, which could pose serious risks to local communities and infrastructure.

Notably, the PMD cautioned that hailstorms in Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa might lead to damage to standing crops, potentially affecting agricultural output in these provinces. Farmers and residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions as the adverse weather conditions unfold.
