OGRA Orders Crackdown on Illegal LPG Price Hikes Across Pakistan

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has taken decisive action in response to recent increases in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices across Pakistan. The regulatory body highlighted that district governments bear the responsibility for implementing and enforcing the official LPG retail prices.

Currently, OGRA enforcement teams are inspecting LPG plants to ensure compliance, while urging district administrations to strictly adhere to the fixed prices established by the authority. In a significant development, OGRA has directed the Chief Secretaries of all provinces to mobilize their departments to guarantee enforcement of price regulations.

OGRA emphasized that supplying LPG to consumers at government-approved rates is imperative and must be maintained under all circumstances. The authority also confirmed that the crackdown on illegal profiteering will persist, warning that legal proceedings will be initiated against those found violating the government-notified prices.

Meanwhile, LPG prices in Panjgur have reportedly surged to Rs 400 per kilogram, placing a heavy burden on local residents due to these inflated costs. This comes shortly after OGRA increased the LPG price for April 2026 by Rs 78.28 per kilogram, raising the new rate to Rs 304.12 per kilogram, as per an official notification.

Additionally, the cost of a domestic LPG cylinder has risen sharply by Rs 923.71, with the price of an 11.8 kg household cylinder now standing at Rs 3,588.59. This marks a significant jump from previous rates.

Earlier in March, OGRA had announced a modest reduction in LPG prices, lowering the rate by Rs 0.21 per kilogram to Rs 225.84 per kilogram. Consequently, the price of an 11.8-kg domestic cylinder was reduced by Rs 2.52, setting it at Rs 2,664.88. These revised prices were applied nationwide in accordance with the latest pricing mechanism.

LPG remains a crucial fuel source for domestic cooking and commercial use, especially in regions lacking natural gas supply. Price adjustments are periodically made based on market calculations approved by OGRA to reflect current conditions.
