Jack Pugh, a former tight end for the Wisconsin Badgers football team, has died in his early twenties. The University of Wisconsin confirmed the news but has not disclosed the cause of death.

Wisconsin’s football program expressed deep sorrow over Pugh’s passing, remembering him as a positive presence who was cherished by both teammates and staff. They highlighted his genuine spirit and the care he showed for others during his time with the team.

Pugh was a member of the Badgers’ 2021 recruiting class, joining the program as a highly regarded four-star prospect. In 2023, he made the decision to step away from football due to health concerns.

Notably, Pugh had been open about his personal challenges, including prolonged depression and struggles with substance abuse. He emphasized his desire to focus on building a life that brought him happiness and pride, marking a significant shift toward prioritizing his mental well-being after enduring years of difficulty.

In a significant development, Pugh completed his degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2025. The football program stated that he will be forever remembered and loved, as tributes continue to pour in following the news of his death.
