Johnny Depp is embroiled in a legal battle following the cancellation of a concert by his band, Hollywood Vampires. The dispute arose after a concert promoter in Slovakia filed a lawsuit over the band’s withdrawal from a July 2023 performance, despite having received an advance payment of approximately $277,000, which has not been refunded.
The lawsuit alleges that the band abruptly cancelled the show, initially attributing the decision to problems with the venue. The promoter claims this last-minute cancellation resulted in significant financial losses and harmed their standing within the industry. Notably, Hollywood Vampires also includes renowned musicians Alice Cooper and Joe Perry.
In a significant development, the lawsuit reveals that the true cause of the cancellation was Depp’s hospitalisation for an unspecified medical issue, contradicting the earlier explanation related to venue complications. The promoter further asserts that efforts to reclaim the advance payment were met with silence.
Meanwhile, the band has sought to dismiss the lawsuit, contending that the Texas court lacks jurisdiction over the matter. To date, there has been no public statement addressing the claims surrounding Depp’s hospital stay.
