Aleema Khan Urges Mass Mobilization for Imran Khan’s Release

Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, on Tuesday called on party workers to escalate efforts to secure his release. Speaking at Gorakhpur Naka in Rawalpindi, she emphasized that meaningful pressure could only be generated if a minimum of 10,000 workers and office-bearers gathered in support.

She urged those unwilling to take responsibility for the founder’s release to step aside and allow others to lead the cause. Aleema Khan alleged that Imran Khan is currently held in continuous solitary confinement, which is causing him significant mental distress.

Regarding the party’s protest plans, she revealed that Sohail Afridi has been tasked with organizing demonstrations, while discussions are underway about launching a broader street movement. Opposition leaders have also been involved in dialogue efforts, with Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Nasir Abbas assigned political coordination roles.

In a significant development, Aleema Khan noted that the responsibility for spearheading protests has been entrusted to the younger leadership, given the need for active on-ground mobilization.

Earlier, Aleema Khan expressed serious concern over Imran Khan’s health, highlighting that family members and lawyers have been denied access to him for several months. She stated that since October 16, neither family nor legal representatives have been allowed to meet the PTI founder, with no clear explanation provided by authorities.

She particularly raised alarm over Imran Khan’s eye condition, noting that the family has not received any updates on his medical status. Aleema Khan added that doctors have indicated that the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) lacks adequate facilities for his eye treatment, deepening the family’s worries.
