Pakistan’s prominent batsman Fakhar Zaman has been handed a two-match suspension during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) after being found in violation of the tournament’s code of conduct. The ruling came following a disciplinary hearing conducted by match referee Roshan Mahanama on Tuesday, where evidence was thoroughly examined and the player’s defense was considered before the final decision was made.

In a significant development, the suspension was imposed under Article 2.14 of the PSL code of conduct, with the hearing proceedings adhering strictly to clause 4.1.3 of the league’s regulations. This disciplinary action highlights the league’s commitment to maintaining fair play and integrity throughout the competition.

The hearing took place in Lahore and centered around allegations of ball tampering involving Fakhar Zaman. Key representatives from the Lahore Qalandars, including captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and team director Sameen Rana, were present during the proceedings, underscoring the seriousness with which the team approached the matter. The suspension will result in Zaman missing two crucial matches, posing a significant challenge for the Lahore Qalandars as they navigate a critical stage of the tournament.

While the exact details of the incident have not been publicly disclosed, the decision marks a notable moment in this season’s PSL, reflecting the strict enforcement of conduct rules designed to uphold the spirit of the game. The Lahore Qalandars will now have to adjust their strategy in the absence of one of their key players as the tournament progresses.
