Dakota Johnson Shares Experience of Being Rejected Over Politeness at Audition

In a candid revelation, actress Dakota Johnson recently discussed an unusual experience during one of her auditions where her courteous behavior was misunderstood, leading to her rejection. During an interview on Hits Radio, Johnson recounted how she entered the audition room, shook hands with everyone present, and introduced herself before performing the scene. However, this gesture, intended as a polite introduction, was misinterpreted by the casting team.

Johnson explained that the feedback she received was unexpected and baffling. The casting directors reportedly felt that her act of greeting everyone came across as pompous and self-important, accusing her of schmoozing and being full of herself. This critique left the actress both shocked and confused, as she had simply been displaying good manners.

Despite the surprising nature of the feedback, Johnson maintained a positive outlook on the incident, describing it as a “pretty crazy” situation. She emphasized that her intention was merely to be polite, not to appear arrogant or overconfident. This experience sheds light on the sometimes perplexing dynamics of the entertainment industry, where even basic etiquette can be misread.

The interview also served as a platform for Johnson to promote her latest film, “Splitsville,” which premiered in the United States in September and is now scheduled for release in the United Kingdom. Her openness about this audition experience adds a relatable dimension to her public persona, illustrating the challenges actors often face beyond their performances.
