Illegal Indian Immigrant Charged After Fatal High-Speed Ohio Crash

An Indian national residing illegally in the United States is facing several felony charges following a high-speed collision in Ohio that resulted in the deaths of a 17-year-old pregnant passenger and her unborn baby. Authorities have identified the suspect as Tarsem Singh.

Singh allegedly evaded police at speeds nearing 100 miles per hour before losing control of his vehicle. The crash caused the teenage passenger, Ashlee Holmes, and her unborn child to be ejected from the car, leading to their immediate deaths at the scene. Singh himself sustained only minor injuries.

He has been detained on a $1 million bond and was formally indicted on March 23. The charges include two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the deaths of Holmes and her unborn child, two counts of reckless homicide, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, felony vehicular assault, and failure to comply with a police officer’s orders.

Officials report that the incident began when Singh refused to stop for law enforcement, triggering a perilous high-speed chase that culminated in the fatal accident. Specific details regarding the initial police interaction have not been fully disclosed.

In a significant development, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed an immigration detainer on Singh. This measure ensures that following the conclusion of the criminal case, Singh will face deportation and will not be released back into the community.

Authorities have highlighted that the detainer serves to prevent the suspect from escaping justice and underscores the serious consequences of residing in the U.S. without legal authorization. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and the subsequent pursuit.
