Kuwait Intensifies Crackdown on Fitness Clubs and Nutrition Stores

Authorities in Kuwait have stepped up their inspection efforts targeting various commercial establishments, particularly focusing on fitness centers and nutrition-related retail outlets. This intensified campaign has revealed numerous breaches of regulations, prompting officials to take decisive action against non-compliant businesses.

The Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department conducted extensive field visits across multiple locations, including fitness clubs, skincare and juice shops, as well as grocery stores. These inspections aimed to ensure adherence to the rules governing the sale and trade of products such as energy drinks and dietary supplements.

During the course of the campaign, two summonses were issued—one to a fitness club and another to a dietary supplement store—for violations related to the improper handling and sale of energy drinks. In a more severe case, a fitness club was ordered to cease operations entirely after it was discovered to be functioning without a valid license, highlighting the authorities’ zero-tolerance approach toward unlicensed businesses.

In a significant development, the Ministry emphasized that these inspection activities will continue unabated, reinforcing its dedication to enforcing compliance with established market regulations. Officials underscored that strict penalties will be imposed on violators to protect consumer interests and maintain high standards within the commercial sector.
