Russell Brand’s Rape Trial Postponed to October at Southwark Crown Court

An important update has emerged concerning the ongoing legal proceedings against English actor and comedian Russell Brand, who is currently facing multiple serious sexual assault allegations. Initially charged in April 2025, Brand stands accused of two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault. The case was originally set to commence on June 6 but has now been postponed to October.

The allegations involve four women who claim that Brand committed these offenses between 1999 and 2005. In a significant development earlier this year, additional accusations related to incidents in 2009 were incorporated into the case, bringing the total number of charges to seven. The trial is scheduled to begin on October 12 at Southwark Crown Court and is anticipated to continue for approximately two months.

Judge Mr. Justice Bennathan explained that the court may not have adequate time to thoroughly hear all aspects of the case if it were to proceed as originally planned in June. This decision to delay the trial reflects the complexity and gravity of the allegations. Throughout the process, Brand, who is a father of three, has steadfastly denied all charges. In a previous video statement, he acknowledged his past struggles with addiction and personal mistakes but firmly rejected the accusations, stating, “I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile. But what I never was was a rapist.”

As the trial date approaches, the case continues to attract significant public and media attention, highlighting ongoing discussions about accountability and justice in high-profile sexual assault cases.
