Ushna Vance Says JD Vance’s Political Future Not a Priority in Private Talks

Second Lady Ushna Vance stated on Friday that Vice President JD Vance’s potential political ambitions, including his widely anticipated 2028 presidential run, are not a central topic in their private conversations. She emphasized that their discussions prioritize openness and meaningful exchange rather than political strategy.

In a 30-minute interview ahead of her podcast launch, “Storytime With the Second Lady,” premiering Monday, Ushna Vance shared insights into their relationship dynamics. She noted that she and her husband do not always agree on every issue, clarifying, “I’m not his staffer, nor professionally involved in his political work. There’s no expectation that we will align on everything.”

When asked about their communication, she explained that the goal is to remain open-minded and engage in productive conversations. “I provide meaningful input from the perspective of someone who loves him and wants him to succeed,” she said, adding that even disagreements lead to constructive dialogue.

The conversation then shifted to her personal political journey, moving from being a Democrat to voting Republican, as well as their family plans. The couple announced in late January that they are expecting their fourth child, a boy, due in July. This will mark a historic moment as the first time a vice president’s family welcomes a newborn while serving in the Oval Office.

Regarding current US-Iran tensions, Ushna Vance described herself as a trusted adviser to her husband, particularly on issues that hold personal significance for him. Her role, she indicated, involves offering support and perspective during critical decision-making moments.
