King Charles III is reportedly cautious about a possible visit to the UK by Prince Harry, as ongoing tensions within the royal family continue to influence any potential reunion. The Duke of Sussex is said to be planning a trip to Sandringham later this year, accompanied by Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
However, the King’s response to this proposed visit remains guarded. A close associate of the monarch has indicated that “low trust” and “bitter experiences” continue to pose significant obstacles in discussions involving Harry. It was also suggested that if the Duke wishes to rebuild ties, such matters should be addressed privately rather than through public channels, underscoring the persistent strain between father and son years after Harry and Meghan stepped back from their senior royal roles.
Central to the discussions is Sandringham, the royal family’s private estate in Norfolk. Harry is reportedly awaiting an invitation from his father, which is important not only for family reasons but also due to security concerns. Since relinquishing their royal duties, Harry and Meghan no longer receive automatic taxpayer-funded protection in the UK. An official invitation from the King would enable formal security arrangements for their visit.
Contact between Harry and King Charles has been limited in recent years. The two have reportedly met only a few times since Harry moved to the United States, including a brief encounter in 2024. Additionally, the King has not seen his grandchildren in person since 2022, during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II.
At present, there is no confirmation that an invitation to Sandringham has been extended. The outcome may hinge on ongoing talks regarding Harry’s security arrangements in the UK and whether both parties agree to keep future discussions private. Until these issues are resolved, the prospect of a family reunion at Sandringham remains uncertain.
