Heavy rains in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have led to tragic roof collapse incidents, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including three children. These unfortunate events highlight the dangers posed by deteriorating housing structures during severe weather conditions.
In Lahore’s Badami Bagh Zafar Park area, the roof of a residential building gave way amid the downpour, causing fatalities and injuries. Two people lost their lives, while two others were rescued from the debris and rushed to medical facilities for treatment. Emergency responders worked swiftly to extract the injured from the wreckage, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
Meanwhile, in Bannu’s Reshmi Kalla Mandan locality, a dilapidated house collapsed under the weight of heavy rainfall. Five residents who were asleep at the time became trapped beneath the rubble. Tragically, three children did not survive the incident, while two others were rescued and transported to hospitals for medical care. This incident draws attention to the vulnerability of older buildings during extreme weather events.
These incidents serve as a somber reminder of the need for improved infrastructure and timely maintenance, especially in regions prone to heavy rains. Authorities and communities are urged to take preventive measures to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
