The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) in Oman has unveiled plans for a significant infrastructure development at Thumrait Industrial City, located in the Dhofar Governorate. This initiative aims to bolster the country’s industrial sector and attract both local and international investors.
Hassan bin Marhoon Al Marhoon, Director General of Thumrait Industrial City, revealed that the project will span roughly 3.9 million square metres with an estimated budget of OMR15 million. The development will feature a comprehensive suite of essential infrastructure and services to enhance the city’s appeal to investors.
Key components of the project include the construction of internal road networks, installation of water and sewage systems, fire suppression networks, rainwater drainage channels, and solar-powered street lighting. Additionally, fencing works will be implemented to establish a secure and integrated industrial environment.
Further developments involve building a services facility and multiple ready-made entrepreneurial complexes designed to support startups by providing fully equipped workspaces for industrial and commercial ventures. This project aligns with Madayn’s broader strategy to upgrade industrial cities across various Omani governorates, thereby increasing the attractiveness of industrial investments and aiding economic diversification.
Hassan bin Marhoon Al Marhoon also highlighted the project’s broader economic impact, emphasizing the creation of both direct and indirect job opportunities for Omani nationals. He noted that Thumrait Industrial City’s strategic location near concession areas, quarry sites, and the Najd agricultural region positions it well to attract diverse industrial investments, including mining, gypsum, cement, building materials, food production, and various manufacturing sectors.
