Pakistan and China have once again emphasized the importance of regional peace and diplomatic engagement, navigating complex tensions through coordinated efforts at various levels. Islamabad’s pivotal role in facilitating dialogue amid a volatile regional landscape was underscored during a recent high-level exchange.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar engaged in a telephone discussion with Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister of China. The two leaders shared perspectives on the evolving situation in the region.

Senator Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast dedication to dialogue and diplomacy as the sole effective approach to resolving international conflicts peacefully. He highlighted Pakistan’s active initiatives to reduce regional tensions, particularly its role in arranging the forthcoming round of Iran-United States negotiations, reflecting this principled stance.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed the commencement of Iran-US peace talks, emphasizing their vital significance for regional stability. He called on the international community to encourage both parties to return to negotiations and expressed China’s strong appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive involvement in promoting de-escalation. Wang Yi also conveyed China’s full backing for Pakistan’s facilitation efforts.

Both leaders reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, founded on mutual trust and confidence. They agreed to maintain close collaboration to foster peace, stability, and prosperity across the region and beyond. The commitment to enhanced coordination at multilateral platforms, especially the United Nations, was reiterated.

The ministers concurred on the necessity of supporting all initiatives aimed at an immediate halt to hostilities, resumption of dialogue, protection of civilians, safeguarding maritime security, and adherence to the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

In a significant development, the two also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan, agreeing to continue joint efforts to promote peace, security, and stability throughout the region.
