Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has called on the public to participate in Earth Hour tomorrow by turning off all lights between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm. This initiative, set for March 28, aims to address climate change impacts and promote energy conservation across the province.

The campaign is designed to raise awareness about the responsible use and safeguarding of energy resources among the general population. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has been assigned the responsibility of overseeing the campaign’s progress. Furthermore, the Secretary of Environment has been designated as the focal person to ensure smooth coordination and unity throughout the initiative.

In her message about Earth Hour, the Punjab CM highlighted the collective duty to maintain a safe, clean, and sustainable environment for future generations. She praised the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) for its pivotal role and emphasized that prioritizing environmental protection is an urgent necessity.

Maryam Nawaz urged everyone to actively engage in this nationwide campaign by switching off their lights for one hour, demonstrating their dedication to preserving the planet. Earth Hour is a global grassroots movement led by the WWF, encouraging individuals, businesses, and communities worldwide to turn off non-essential lights for one hour at 8:30 p.m. local time on the last Saturday of March.

Originating in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour has expanded to over 190 countries, serving as a powerful symbol in the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. It is often referred to as “the biggest hour for Earth,” uniting millions in a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.
