Iran’s IRGC Navy Chief Alireza Tangsiri Killed in Israeli Strike

An Israeli official has announced that Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, the senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, was killed in a targeted airstrike in the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.

Initial reports, first revealed by Israeli media outlets, indicate that Tangsiri was the primary target of the aerial attack conducted earlier today. Ground footage shows extensive damage to a building in the coastal city, although the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have not yet issued an official statement confirming the operation’s outcome.

In a significant development, if the death of Admiral Tangsiri is confirmed, it would mark one of the most impactful assassinations of an Iranian military leader since the 2020 killing of Qasem Soleimani. Tangsiri had commanded the IRGC naval forces since 2018 and was a key figure behind Iran’s asymmetric naval tactics.

He played a crucial role in implementing Iran’s recent maritime blockade and the so-called “toll regime” across the strategic Strait of Hormuz. His reported elimination comes amid the ongoing “Operation True Promise 4,” a conflict involving direct military confrontations between Israel, the United States, and Iranian forces.

Meanwhile, Tehran has remained silent on the matter, with no immediate updates from state media regarding the commander’s status.
