The Milwaukee Brewers are placing their confidence in their young pitching staff as they prepare for the final game of their series against the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis on Sunday. Following impressive outings from Coleman Crow and Logan Henderson in the first two games, 26-year-old Robert Gasser is set to make his season debut, aiming to help the Brewers complete a three-game sweep.
Coleman Crow delivered a strong performance in the series opener, allowing just one run over five innings, contributing to Milwaukee’s victory. The following day, Logan Henderson also impressed by giving up only one run and striking out seven batters across five innings, securing the win for the Brewers.
Henderson highlighted the camaraderie among the young pitchers, noting that the team’s trust in them has boosted their confidence. Many of these pitchers have shared time together at Triple-A Nashville, an experience that has fostered their development. He described the atmosphere as a “next-man-up” mentality, emphasizing the special nature of this group stepping up collectively.
The Brewers have been in excellent form recently, winning their last three games and eight of their previous nine overall. Meanwhile, the Twins are striving to avoid a series sweep after narrowly losing the first two games by a single run each. Despite the close contests, Minnesota has struggled to capitalize on crucial scoring opportunities.
Minnesota’s manager, Derek Shelton, acknowledged that while his team understood the need for sharp play against Milwaukee, they failed to seize key moments, which ultimately made the difference in both losses.
For the series finale, the Twins will start right-hander Bailey Ober, who holds a 4-2 record with a 3.46 ERA. Ober is coming off an outstanding performance, pitching a complete-game shutout against the Miami Marlins, allowing only two hits and striking out seven. He will be aiming for consecutive wins and has a solid track record against the Brewers, having won once in two previous starts.
Robert Gasser will be making just his eighth MLB start and his first of the 2026 season. Since his debut in 2024, Gasser has shown promise in limited appearances and has yet to face the Twins.
The Twins may receive a boost with the potential return of star outfielder Byron Buxton, who has been sidelined for the last few games due to a hip injury. Buxton has begun light field work as part of his recovery but has not yet rejoined the lineup.
