Islamabad United convincingly defeated Lahore Qalanders in the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by chasing down a modest target of 100 runs in only 10.2 overs. The match, held in Karachi, witnessed a standout performance from Devon Conway, who remained unbeaten on 59 runs off 35 balls.
Lahore Qalanders posted the lowest total of the 2026 PSL season so far, managing just 100 runs after electing to bat first. Their innings lacked significant contributions, with Sikandar Raza top-scoring with 25 runs from 19 deliveries, followed by Haseebullah Khan’s 19 off 22 balls. Veteran Asif Ali added 15 runs, but the team struggled to build momentum.
Defending such a low total proved challenging for Lahore Qalanders. Their bowling lineup, including captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, Rassie van der Dussen, Haris Rauf, Ubaid Shah, Mustafizur Rahman, and Sikandar Raza, was unable to contain Islamabad United’s batsmen. Mohammad Faiq supported Conway with a quick 34 runs off 19 balls, while rising talent Sameer Minhas joined the crease when only five runs were needed to seal the win.
In a significant development, Lahore Qalanders were comfortably outplayed, marking a disappointing day for the team both with bat and ball.
Meanwhile, the 17th PSL match scheduled for today features Peshawar Zalmi facing Karachi Kings. Peshawar Zalmi will be playing consecutive matches, making stamina and tactical planning key factors. Both teams have played three matches each in the tournament so far.
Currently, Karachi Kings hold second place on the points table with six points, while Peshawar Zalmi is positioned fourth with five points. Despite initial skepticism about Karachi’s squad, they have demonstrated strong and consistent performances. Their captain, David Warner, who recently returned after a short break, has been instrumental in providing solid starts alongside Mohammad Wasim Jr., whose aggressive batting has helped set a positive tone in the early overs.
