Kieran Trippier to Depart Newcastle United After Four and a Half Years

Kieran Trippier, the former England right back, is set to leave Newcastle United when his contract expires this summer, bringing an end to his four and a half years with the Premier League club. Trippier, who previously played for Burnley, Tottenham Hotspur, and Atletico Madrid, has been a significant figure in Newcastle’s recent achievements.

Notably, Trippier played a crucial role in Newcastle’s League Cup campaign last season, helping the club secure their first major domestic trophy in 70 years. Reflecting on his time at the club, the 35-year-old defender expressed deep emotion, stating that Newcastle felt like home and that winning the trophy was the highlight of his career. He acknowledged the strong bond he developed with the fans and teammates during his tenure.

Since joining Newcastle from Atletico Madrid in 2022, Trippier has been instrumental in the club’s resurgence. The 2022-23 season marked Newcastle’s best Premier League finish in two decades, as they secured fourth place and qualified for European competition for the first time since the 2012-13 season. This remarkable turnaround has been attributed in part to Trippier’s influence on and off the pitch.

In a significant development, Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe praised Trippier’s impact, highlighting how the player’s arrival helped elevate the club’s standards and alter its trajectory. Trippier’s professionalism and performances have left a lasting legacy at St James’ Park as the club looks ahead to the future without him.
