King Charles and Sir David Beckham Collaborate on Chelsea Flower Show Garden

King Charles and Sir David Beckham have come together for the first time since Beckham was honoured with a knighthood, uniting over their mutual enthusiasm for gardening. The 77-year-old monarch bestowed the title of “Sir” on Beckham at Windsor Castle in November, while his wife Victoria received the title “Lady Beckham.”

Now, five months later, the pair met warmly at Highgrove, the King’s private residence in Gloucestershire. This reunion was a key moment in their collaboration for this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where they are jointly working on a garden design under the King’s Foundation “Curious Garden” initiative.

Photographs from the occasion capture the King and Beckham sharing smiles and lighthearted moments, reflecting a friendship that has grown steadily over time. They were accompanied by esteemed gardener Alan Titchmarsh and horticulturist Frances Tophill as they reviewed and finalised the garden plans.

The design will prominently feature a beehive, symbolising their shared interest in beekeeping, a pastime also enjoyed by Catherine, Princess of Wales. The project seeks to inspire younger generations to pursue careers in horticulture and foster a stronger connection with the natural world.

Following the meeting, Beckham commended the efforts of the King’s Foundation and the Royal Horticultural Society, expressing optimism that the initiative would motivate more people to engage with green spaces. “It’s been fun to be part of creating the Curious Garden, and I’m excited for people to see it,” he remarked.
