South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen has officially retired from international cricket, concluding a notable career that spanned all three formats. Known for his dependable presence in the middle order, van der Dussen announced his decision through an emotional social media message reflecting on his journey at the international level.

Van der Dussen made his international debut on October 9, 2018, in a T20 International against Zimbabwe. He quickly cemented his place as a regular member of South Africa’s squad across formats, showcasing his skill and composure under pressure. Throughout his career, he featured in 57 T20 Internationals, 71 One Day Internationals, and 18 Test matches, consistently providing stability to the batting line-up.

His final appearance came on August 16, 2025, against Australia, marking the end of a period during which he often played the role of an anchor, helping to steady innings in challenging situations. Among his most memorable performances was a commanding century against New Zealand in the 2023 Cricket World Cup, where he scored 133 runs, an innings widely celebrated as a career highlight.

Beyond international cricket, van der Dussen also excelled in franchise leagues, including a century in the Pakistan Super League, demonstrating his adaptability to diverse playing conditions and formats. Renowned for his calm demeanor and ability to construct innings patiently, he became a vital component of South Africa’s limited-overs teams and a reliable performer in crucial matches.

His retirement signifies the loss of a player who greatly enhanced South Africa’s batting depth over recent years, leaving behind a legacy of consistency and several match-winning contributions that will be remembered by fans and teammates alike.
