The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced a revision to the Playing Conditions for the 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League. This update has been effective since the tournament’s opening fixture between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen on Thursday.
The modification specifically pertains to the Nomination and Replacement of Players, outlined in Article 1.2 of the HBL PSL Playing Conditions. Under the new rule, each captain is permitted to submit two distinct XI lineups in writing to the HBL PSL Match Referee before the toss. Each lineup must consist of 11 players and may include up to four substitute fielders, in accordance with Clause 1.2.5.
Following the toss, captains are required to finalize one of the two submitted lineups by signing the chosen team sheet. Once the final playing eleven is confirmed, no changes can be made prior to the match’s start without the opposing captain’s approval. Additionally, no player substitutions are allowed after the Call of Play, except in cases of concussion replacement.
This adjustment aims to eliminate external factors, particularly the influence of dew, which has previously affected the balance between the first and second innings. By allowing captains to prepare two lineups, the rule seeks to ensure a fairer contest regardless of changing pitch and weather conditions.
