Khawaja Asif Criticizes PTI’s Parliamentary Behavior, Calls for CoD Action

Senior politician Khawaja Asif has strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for their behavior during parliamentary sessions. He expressed concern over what he described as disruptive conduct that undermines the decorum and effectiveness of the legislative process. Asif emphasized the importance of maintaining order and respect within the parliament to ensure productive governance. His remarks come amid ongoing tensions between political parties in the assembly.

In a significant development, Khawaja Asif has called for the establishment of a Committee of the Whole (CoD) to thoroughly examine the situation and recommend measures to restore parliamentary discipline. The CoD is a procedural mechanism that allows all members of the house to sit as a committee, facilitating detailed discussion on pressing issues. This move highlights the urgency felt by some lawmakers to address the challenges posed by partisan conflicts and disruptions. It also reflects broader concerns about the stability and functionality of Pakistan’s parliamentary system.

Notably, the call for a CoD underscores the need for collaborative efforts among political factions to uphold democratic norms. The effectiveness of such a committee could set a precedent for managing future disputes within the assembly. Meanwhile, the PTI’s response to these criticisms will be closely watched, as it may influence the political climate ahead of upcoming legislative sessions. This episode illustrates the ongoing struggle to balance robust political debate with institutional respect in Pakistan’s democracy.
