Murad Ali Shah Details Rs 2000 Petrol Subsidy for Registered Motorcyclists

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Monday that a Rs 2000 petrol subsidy will be granted exclusively to motorcyclists whose vehicles are registered in their names. Speaking at a press conference, he emphasized that the subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the verified owner following registration.

He highlighted that an application for this process is available on the Sindh Excise Department’s website. Additionally, the transfer of motorcycle ownership has been made free of charge to encourage compliance. “If you have purchased a motorcycle from someone else, ensure you transfer the vehicle to your name,” he urged.

To facilitate this, transfer offices will operate daily from 8:00 AM to midnight, including weekends. This extended timing aims to accommodate the public efficiently.

In a related update, Murad Ali Shah mentioned consultations with traders regarding the potential closure of markets at 8:00 PM. He added that discussions with the federal government will continue to determine appropriate timings based on the province’s circumstances.

Addressing public transport concerns, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that fares will remain unchanged from the rates set on February 28. The Sindh government plans to absorb the increased fuel costs by providing subsidies to each registered bus through coordination with the federal government.

He noted that while it was simpler to limit relief to government transport, freezing fares across all buses would better serve commuters. Transporters have been offered a compensation package to prevent fare hikes on coaches, minibuses, coasters, and vans. “Transporters will not increase fares; instead, the government will cover the higher diesel expenses,” he concluded.
