Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Prison Release Date Moved Up Again to April 2028

Sean “Diddy” Combs is now expected to be released from prison slightly earlier than previously scheduled, with federal records indicating his release date has been moved up once more. The 56-year-old music mogul’s new release date is set for April 15, 2028, reflecting a 10-day reduction from the earlier April 25, 2028 timeline. This change is the latest in a series of gradual adjustments that have shortened his sentence over recent months.

Initially, Combs’ release was anticipated in May 2028, then postponed to June, before being brought forward to April. These shifts have continued as he serves a 50-month federal sentence following his conviction last summer on two counts related to transportation to engage in prostitution, violating the Mann Act. The conviction came after a widely publicized trial in New York.

Notably, Combs was acquitted of more severe charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, which carried the possibility of a life sentence. Prior to sentencing, he spent nearly a year detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center after bail was denied.

Currently, Combs is incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey. His legal team had requested placement there due to the facility’s rehabilitation programs and its proximity to his family. In October 2025, his attorney, Teny Geragos, filed a court request emphasizing the importance of addressing Combs’ drug abuse issues and maximizing family visitation opportunities.

Since his transfer, Combs has enrolled in a drug abuse program, which may have contributed to the reductions in his sentence through good behavior credits. This rehabilitative effort aligns with the court’s recommendations and could further influence his release timeline.
