Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has embarked on a one-day official visit to Beijing, China. During this trip, he is scheduled to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to evaluate bilateral relations and deliberate on regional and global issues of shared concern. This visit marks Dar’s second trip to Beijing within the current year.

Prior to his departure, Dar engaged in a telephonic discussion with Wang Yi on Friday, exchanging perspectives on the shifting regional dynamics and broader international developments. Both officials concurred on the importance of jointly promoting a ceasefire, halting hostilities, and reviving peace negotiations. They emphasized the protection of civilian areas and critical waterways as part of these efforts.

Notably, the Chinese Foreign Minister expressed Beijing’s support for Pakistan’s role as a mediator in ongoing conflicts. Dar acknowledged this endorsement and highlighted the mutual commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels.

In a significant development related to regional peace, Pakistan recently hosted a meeting of foreign ministers from four Muslim-majority countries. The gathering in Islamabad included representatives from Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, who convened to advance peace initiatives amid the escalating conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran, along with its regional repercussions.
