Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is set to travel to China on Tuesday following an invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The visit aims to address regional dynamics, bilateral relations, and broader international concerns.
Earlier, on Friday, Dar and Wang Yi engaged in a telephonic discussion where they exchanged perspectives on the shifting regional landscape and global developments. Both officials emphasized the importance of promoting a ceasefire, halting hostilities, and resuming peace negotiations. They also highlighted the need to protect non-military targets and crucial waterways.
During the call, the Chinese foreign minister expressed support for Pakistan’s mediating role in the ongoing conflicts. Dar acknowledged China’s appreciation for Pakistan’s continued efforts in this regard. The two sides concurred on the necessity of resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels.
In a significant development, Pakistan recently hosted a meeting of foreign ministers from four Muslim countries to advance peace initiatives amid the escalating conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran. The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia convened in Islamabad to discuss strategies to promote peace in the Middle East region.
