President Asif Ali Zardari convened a high-level consultative meeting on Thursday to evaluate the economic repercussions of fluctuating global oil and gas supplies. The session concentrated on strategies to manage inflationary pressures while ensuring the country’s energy security.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi were among the key attendees.

During the meeting, participants analyzed the effects of disruptions in international fuel supply chains and the surge in petroleum prices on Pakistan’s economy. Emphasis was placed on the critical need to control inflation and maintain a steady energy supply.

Officials agreed on the importance of close coordination across various sectors, including economic management, energy planning, and food security, to alleviate the impact of external shocks. The discussion also touched on the evolving regional security landscape and its potential influence on energy markets.

In a significant development, the meeting highlighted the necessity of strengthening institutional collaboration and fostering national consensus to effectively address ongoing challenges. Leaders also stressed raising public awareness about energy conservation measures, such as reducing fuel consumption and encouraging the use of public transportation.

The assembled leaders reaffirmed their dedication to implementing a unified strategy aimed at preserving economic stability and responding proactively to global and regional developments.
