Iran’s Foreign Minister Dismisses Concerns Over Supreme Leader Amid Rising Tensions

In a recent interview, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi firmly rejected any claims of problems concerning Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. This statement came shortly after U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth alleged that Khamenei had been injured and possibly disfigured. Araqchi’s remarks aimed to dispel such rumors, emphasizing stability within Iran’s highest leadership ranks despite ongoing regional tensions.

Meanwhile, the situation on the ground remains volatile. On Saturday, a missile strike reportedly carried out by a joint US-Israeli operation targeted an industrial zone in Isfahan, one of Iran’s major cities. Iran’s Fars news agency, the attack struck a factory specializing in heating and cooling equipment manufacturing. The facility was operational at the time, underscoring the severity and timing of the assault. The strike resulted in at least 15 casualties, though independent verification of the death toll has not been possible.

It is important to note that Saturday is a regular working day in Iran, which may have contributed to the number of people present at the factory during the attack. The incident marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict that has seen repeated missile exchanges between Tehran and Israel. Since the outbreak of hostilities in late February, Iran has launched multiple missile salvos targeting Israeli territory, responding to earlier US-Israeli strikes on Iranian sites.

Iranian state television confirmed that on the same day as the Isfahan attack, Iran retaliated by firing a fresh wave of missiles towards Israel. This tit-for-tat exchange highlights the deepening hostilities and the fragile security situation in the Middle East. The conflict, which began with US and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets on February 28, has since spiraled into a series of military confrontations, raising concerns about a broader regional escalation.

In this context, Araqchi’s comments serve not only to reassure the Iranian public and international observers about the leadership’s stability but also to project an image of resilience amid external pressures. The ongoing missile exchanges underscore the high stakes involved and the potential for further deterioration in relations between Iran, Israel, and their respective allies. As the situation continues to unfold, the international community remains watchful of developments that could impact regional peace and security.
