Kanye West Ordered to Pay $140K in Malibu Mansion Legal Dispute After Trial

A Los Angeles Superior Court jury has mandated that Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, pay $140,000 in connection with a legal dispute involving work done at his former Malibu mansion. The ruling came after a two-week trial that concluded on Tuesday, March 10, with the verdict being publicly disclosed the next day. This case has drawn attention due to the high-profile nature of the rapper and the substantial value of the property involved.

The lawsuit was initiated by Tony Saxon, a contractor who alleged that he was not fully compensated for services rendered at West’s $57 million beachfront estate. Saxon further claimed that during his tenure at the property, he sustained significant injuries and was subsequently wrongfully terminated from his position. Initially, Saxon sought damages amounting to $1.7 million, a figure that reflected both unpaid wages and compensation for his injuries. However, the jury ultimately awarded him a much smaller sum of $140,000, declining to grant any punitive damages.

It is important to note that West acquired the Malibu mansion in 2021 and soon after embarked on extensive renovations. Part of these renovations involved removing many of the interior fixtures and fittings, which reportedly led to disputes over the scope and management of the work. Saxon’s civil complaint, filed in September 2023, detailed that he was hired as a project manager for the property starting in September 2021. Additionally, he asserted that his responsibilities extended beyond project management to include full-time security duties and acting as a live-in caretaker, with a promised weekly salary of $20,000.

Following the jury’s decision, a spokesperson representing Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, clarified that the awarded amount pertained solely to Saxon’s injury claim. They emphasized that the verdict was limited in scope compared to the original damages Saxon had sought. The representative also highlighted that this case is just one part of ongoing legal conflicts between West and Saxon.

In fact, the legal battle between the two parties has escalated further. In January 2026, West filed a separate lawsuit against Saxon and his attorney, accusing them of wrongfully placing a $1.8 million mechanic’s lien on the Malibu property. This additional litigation underscores the complexity and contentious nature of the disputes surrounding the mansion’s renovation and management.

The Malibu estate itself has been a focal point of controversy, not only because of its staggering price tag but also due to the high-profile personalities involved and the extensive renovations that have sparked multiple legal challenges. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these disputes will ultimately be resolved and what impact they may have on West’s future property dealings.
