The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has rolled out an innovative feature named “Verification History” on its PakID mobile application, designed to empower Pakistani citizens by providing detailed insights into their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) verification activities. This addition aims to enhance transparency and security by allowing individuals to track when and by whom their identity details have been verified.
In a recent announcement, NADRA emphasized the importance of safeguarding personal information, highlighting that awareness about the verification timeline and entities involved is crucial in protecting one’s identity. The new feature on the PakID app offers a comprehensive log of all verification instances, enabling users to access precise information about the dates and locations where their CNIC was checked. This development marks a significant step forward in citizen-centric digital services, reflecting NADRA’s commitment to leveraging technology for improved public service delivery.
Moreover, this update complements NADRA’s ongoing efforts to streamline the CNIC application process. Citizens can now conveniently apply for their identity cards from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need to endure long queues at NADRA centers. This digital facilitation not only saves time but also reduces physical crowding at registration offices, which is particularly beneficial in the current health-conscious environment.
Adding to these advancements, last month NADRA introduced a policy allowing individuals to register for their CNIC without the prerequisite of a birth certificate. This provision specifically targets males over the age of 24 who have yet to obtain an identity card. To qualify, applicants must have at least one parent and one sibling holding a valid CNIC or a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP). The process requires the applicant to appear with their parent who possesses a CNIC, ensuring familial verification. Once registered, the CNIC will permanently record the individual’s parents’ names, date of birth, and place of birth as provided during the application, with no option for future amendments.
In addition to these service enhancements, NADRA has also announced a discount on birth certificate fees, a benefit that will remain available until December 31, 2026. This initiative is part of NADRA’s broader strategy to make vital record-keeping more accessible and affordable for all citizens, thereby encouraging timely registration of births and improving national data accuracy.
