Deputy PM Ishaq Dar Meets British Envoy, Urges Calm Amid Middle East Crisis

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a significant meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott in Islamabad on Thursday. The discussion underscored Pakistan’s appreciation for the Commonwealth’s ongoing engagement with the country, while Dar conveyed his inability to participate in the upcoming Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting due to the escalating tensions in the Middle East. This diplomatic interaction took place against the backdrop of a rapidly evolving regional crisis that has captured global attention.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar stressed the critical importance of de-escalation and the exercise of restraint by all parties involved in the Middle East conflict. He emphasized that ensuring peace and stability in this volatile region is essential not only for the countries directly affected but also for the broader international community. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing hostilities and preventing further deterioration of the situation.

In parallel with these diplomatic engagements, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been proactive in responding to the unfolding regional developments, particularly concerning the welfare of Pakistani nationals residing abroad. The ministry has activated its Crisis Management Unit to monitor the situation continuously and coordinate timely interventions. This unit operates around the clock to assess risks and facilitate assistance where needed, reflecting the government’s prioritization of citizen safety during international emergencies.

Following directives from the Prime Minister, special facilitation desks have been established at Pakistani embassies in affected regions. These desks serve as vital support centers, offering a range of services including visa assistance, accommodation arrangements, and travel support for Pakistanis stranded due to the conflict. The initiative aims to streamline the repatriation process and provide immediate relief to those caught in the crisis.

Moreover, the Foreign Office has launched dedicated portals, mobile applications, and helplines designed to enhance communication between the government and overseas Pakistanis. These digital tools enable citizens to access up-to-date information, seek assistance, and report emergencies efficiently. Pakistani diplomatic missions remain in close contact with host country authorities to coordinate efforts and ensure the smooth facilitation of aid and evacuation operations.

With the gradual resumption of commercial flight services, Pakistan has begun repatriating its citizens through scheduled airline operations. This marks a crucial step in the government’s strategy to bring home those affected by the regional instability. The Foreign Office reiterated that the safety, security, and well-being of Pakistani expatriates remain at the forefront of its agenda during these challenging times. Detailed information regarding emergency contacts and support services is readily available on the ministry’s official website and social media channels, providing an accessible resource for those in need.
