Pakistan Orders Enhanced Airspace Monitoring Following Iran Strikes by Israel and US

In the wake of a sudden and intense missile strike carried out by Israel and the United States on Iranian territory early Saturday morning, the Pakistani government has swiftly taken precautionary measures to bolster the security of its national airspace. Islamabad has issued directives to its Air Traffic Control (ATC) authorities to significantly increase vigilance and monitoring activities across the country’s skies, particularly focusing on the air corridors adjacent to Iran and Afghanistan.

Authorities have also advised all Pakistani airlines to refrain from flying over Iranian airspace until further notice, aiming to minimize any potential risks to civilian aircraft amid the escalating regional tensions. This move reflects Pakistan’s cautious approach to maintaining the safety of its aviation sector while navigating the complex geopolitical fallout from the attacks.

The missile strikes reportedly targeted several key locations in Tehran, including University Street and the Jomhouri district, as well as areas near the Iranian presidential palace and the residence of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian state media confirmed that multiple Israeli missiles hit these strategic sites, resulting in visible plumes of smoke rising from various parts of the capital city. The coordinated nature of the assault underscores the heightened state of conflict in the region and the potential for further escalation.

Given the proximity of Pakistan to the affected regions, the government’s prompt response highlights its commitment to safeguarding national security and ensuring uninterrupted air traffic management. The intensified surveillance over the airspace bordering Iran and Afghanistan is expected to help detect any unusual or unauthorized aerial movements, thereby preventing any spillover effects from the ongoing conflict.

As the situation develops, Pakistani officials continue to monitor the regional dynamics closely, balancing the need for security with diplomatic sensitivities. The directive to the ATC and the cautionary advice to airlines come at a critical juncture, emphasizing the importance of preparedness in an increasingly volatile neighborhood.
