The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting heavy rainfall across Pakistan from April 5 to 9 due to an approaching western disturbance from the west. Balochistan will be the first province to experience these conditions, with rain, thunderstorms, windstorms, isolated heavy downpours, and hail expected in areas such as Chaghi, Dalbandin, Kharan, Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, and Pishin starting the night of April 5 through the morning of April 7, with intermittent breaks.

Other districts in Balochistan likely to be affected during this period include Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Mastung, Sibbi, Kohlu, Naseerabad, and Loralai. Additionally, Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, and the Makran Coast—including Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara, and Lasbella—are forecast to face similar weather on April 6.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), widespread rainfall accompanied by windstorms, thunderstorms, and snowfall over mountainous regions such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, and Battagram is expected from April 6 to 9, with occasional pauses. Several other districts including Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot, Haripur, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan will likely experience similar conditions during the same timeframe.

Heavy rainfall and hailstorms are predicted at scattered locations in KP on April 7 and 8. Punjab province will also witness widespread rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms with isolated heavy showers and hailstorms in areas including Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Noorpurthal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Pakpattan, Okara, Kasur, and Sahiwal from the evening of April 6 through April 9. Islamabad and Rawalpindi are expected to experience similar weather patterns during this period.

On April 6 and 7, rain and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are forecast for southern Punjab districts such as Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, and Khanewal. Furthermore, heavy rainfall and hailstorms may occur in Islamabad, the Pothohar region, and upper districts on April 7 and 8.

In Sindh, scattered rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are expected on April 6 in Sukkur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Kambar Shahdadkot. Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are predicted for Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Mityari, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, and Karachi on the same day.

Gilgit-Baltistan will receive moderate rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms with isolated heavy showers and snowfall over mountainous areas including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Guanche, and Shigar from the night of April 5 through April 9 with occasional breaks. Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur, is forecast to experience widespread rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms with some heavy showers and hailstorms from April 6 to 9 intermittently.

The PMD has warned of potential landslides in vulnerable zones of upper KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Flash flooding is anticipated in Kashmir and northeastern Balochistan, affecting areas such as Khuzdar, Kalat, Mastung, Kohlu, Zhob, Barkhan, Loralai, Sherani, and the Kohe Sulaiman mountains on April 6. Additionally, local streams and nullahs in KP districts including Kurram, Orakzai, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Kohistan, Chitral, Buner, and Abbottabad are at risk of flash floods between April 7 and 8.

Urban flooding is expected in cities such as Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Sialkot on April 7 and 8. The forecast also highlights the possibility of windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning causing damage to fragile structures like electric poles, billboards, and solar panels. Crops in Punjab, KP, and Sindh are vulnerable to harm from hail and windstorms, prompting advisories for farmers to take protective measures.

In a significant advisory, the PMD has urged tourists and travelers to avoid unnecessary journeys during the forecasted period to ensure safety amid the severe weather conditions.
